Lockton Biennale - spanning two weekends in early summer 2018, Lockton Artists Open Studios (LAOS) showcased the work of an ever-growing community of practising artists and designers living and working in or within a 2 mile radius of the village.
Nestled on the edge of the North York Moors, close to Hole of Horcum, the small rural village of Lockton has become home to a thriving
community of artists.
Many of the artists draw inspiration from the beautiful moorland countryside that surrounds this idyllic village within the National Park.
LAOS is a unique opportunity to talk to the artists about the processes they use and to view and buy work.
Among the twelve artists, you will discover painters, textile artists, photographers, blacksmiths, mixed media artists and silversmiths.
The Lockton Artists Showcase Exhibition will give you a flavour of the artistic talent and creativity located in the village.
This exhibition acts as an introduction to and meeting place for the event where you will be greeted with a warm welcome and be able to pick up a map and brochure to guide you around the studios.
Artists' studios and workshops are clearly numbered and signposted around the village and the majority are within easy walking distance of each other. Follow the red circular signs positioned around the village as indicated on the map and look out for the bunting!
Why not make a day of it and incorporate a walk around Horcum or cycle in Dalby Forest as part of your visit.
For refreshments, indulge in tempting traditional home baking at Lockton's very own Village Tearooms and Gallery or visit one of our two local pubs, the Fox and Rabbit on the A169 and the Horseshoe Inn at nearby Levisham.
Whether you live locally or are visiting the county, you are guaranteed dramatic scenery, stunning artwork and a friendly welcome from this flourishing artistic community in Lockton.
